The Garden’s Construction

June 19th, 2012

Since I had no idea that my family was even considering building me a raised vegetable garden in less than a week, please check out my daughter’s blog for the details and more photos of its construction.  Incredible.

Since I’ve been home, we’ve added drip irrigation to each raised bed and put up several trellises so the plants grow up instead of out!

Each bed has its own drip irrigation system on its own timer.  I know my plants will be very happy we went to the trouble when our North Carolina summer really heats up in July and August.

We put up trellises for the cucumbers, pumpkins, raspberries, and watermelons!  Once the pumpkins and watermelons start growing, we’ll have to put them in “slings” to keep them from breaking off and pulling the plants down off the trellises!

I'd love to hear your comments
